Marital Litigation in SC, 5th Edition - Table of Contents

This exceptional treatise, the "bible" for South Carolina domestic relations practitioners and judges, provides comprehensive analysis of every major aspect of family law of this state. With many new cases added and updates through July 2019, the Fifth Edition is a resource every family law attorney should own.

For the Fifth Edition, the discussion of transmutation was completely rewritten and "guiding principles" are proposed. The contents of the 2010-2015 Supplement were merged into the text. The chapter on child custody was significantly reorganized. The child support chapter discusses the creation of the State Disbursement Unit and its impact. The changes to taxation of alimony are noted. The impact of the SC Supreme Court's decision to abolish common law marriage is also discussed.

An outstanding resource, the book is arranged in well-organized, clearly delineated chapters and sections. The narrative style is clean and straightforward, with a very practical point of view. It includes background and "historical perspective" on the statutory and case law development and the nuances involved in the issues, but the primary focus is on the current law. Professor Stuckey offers valuable analysis regarding several important areas of marital law where there is no clear precedent or authority, or where practices might be inconsistent from one part of the state to another.
New for the Fifth Edition, the substantive text is bound in a single hardcover volume and the Table of Authorities are included in a stand-alone softcover resource. Both are included with your purchase.
