2023 Best Practice for SC Paralegals

This legal education seminar will cover a range of topics related to paralegal practice in South Carolina. In the morning, attendees will learn about ethical dilemmas and best practices for avoiding common pitfalls, as well as strategies for calculating and arguing damages in complex litigation. After lunch, the focus will shift to work comp claims, with sessions on complex file management and the role of the Workers' Compensation Commission. The day will conclude with a discussion of the South Carolina Board of Paralegal Certification and the potential career value of earning the SCCP credential. Attendees can expect to leave with a deeper understanding of the legal landscape in South Carolina and valuable insights into how to navigate the challenges of paralegal practice. 

 

This seminar has been approved by the South Carolina Bar Certified Paralegal Board for 5.75 CPE credits (including 1.0 for Ethics). This seminar meets the requirements of the NALA Certifying Board for continuing legal education credit required to maintain CP (Certified Paralegal) credential. NALA approved this program for  5.75 maximum hours (1 legal ethics hour ).  

It also has been submitted for approval to National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), and the National Association for Legal Support Professionals (NALS) for their continuing education credits.  

This seminar is not approved for MCLE credit. 


The South Carolina Bar is an accredited CLE provider in South Carolina only. Attorneys are responsible for seeking their own credit in other jurisdictions.

Topics of discussion will include unauthorized practice of law, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, diligence, and competency.
